Saga of Seven Suns yedi kitaptan oluşan bir bilim-kurgu / fantazi türünde destandı adeta. Bu sefer ise Kevin abimiz, üç kitaptan oluşan bu seriyi gene her seneye bir kitap şeklinde, söz verdiği üç yılda bitirdi.
Bu yazımda sadece son kitaptan değil serinin tamamından bahsetmek daha uygun olur sanırım.

Bu seride Kevin abimiz, günümüzde yaşanan olaylara oldukça giydirme
yapmış. Farklı dine mensup insanların aslında çok benzer inanışları
olmasına rağmen boş yere nasıl kan döküldüğünü yazmış. Hatta bu dini
konu yüzünden bazı yayınevleri kitabı yayınlamak istememişler. Hemen
ekleyelim bu seriye dini kitap demek dangalaklığın önde gideni.
Yepyeni bir evrende geçiyor hikayemiz. Bilim-kurgu değil, fantazi türünde bir evren burası. Üç kitap hakkında da birşeyler yazmak demek, konuyu anlatmak demek olacağından ben evren hakkında genel bilgiler vermeyi tercih ediyorum. Bu bilgileri kitap içerisinde ilerledikçe zaten öğreneceksiniz ama hikayenin akışı hakkında size bir fikir vermeyeceğinden arzu ederseniz kitapları zevkle okuyabilirsiniz.
Öncelikle en kapsamlı dünya haritamızı paylaşarak başlayalım.

Yaratıcı Ondun bilinen dünyayı yarattıktan sonra, oğulları ile birlikte Terravitae'de yaşamaktadır. Ondun'un üç oğlu vardır; Aiden, Urec ve Joron. Ondun Aiden ve Urec'i "The Key to Creation" ("Yaratılışın Anahtarı" olarak çevirebiliriz) arayışında denizleri aşıp gezmek için görevlendirir.
Aiden kuzeyden, günümüzde Tierra olarak bilinen yere varırken, Urec güneyden, günümüzde Uraba olarak bilinen yere varır. Buralarda yaşayan halk ile iletişime geçerler. Zamandan zamana geçen sözler, değişen hikayeler ile iki oğul aslında iki din yaratmış olur. Örneğin, Aiden'in torunu Sapier Aidenist dininin kurucusu olarak bilir, efsaneye göre bir deniz canavarına (yılan/serpent) oltasının kancasını takmıştır ve bu şekilde kaybolduğu bilinmez sulardan kurtulmuştur. Yaratık onu güvenli sulara taşımıştır, bu sebeple Aidenist'lerin kutsal işaretleri bir oltadır, aslında oltanın ucudur (Fishhook).
Urecari dini ise "Golden Fern" denilen bir bitkiyi kutsal kabul ederler ve bu bitkiyi bulanların ömür boyu kutsanacaklarına inanırlar. Ayrıca gene sembol olarak Urecari gemilerinde Urec'in Gözü'nü sembolize eden bir göz vardır.
Her iki inanışa göre bu iki kıtanın ortasındaki İshalem (isim tanıdık geldi mi :) kutsaldır. İshalem'in en yüksek tepesinde efsanevi büyüklükte bir gemi vardır. Aidenistler bu geminin Aiden'in gemisi olduğuna inanırken, Urecari'ler bu geminin Urec'e ait olduğuna inanırlar. İki inanışta da karşıdaki kardeş utanç içerisinde eve dönmüş veya kaçmıştır. Kendi dinlerinin kurucusu ise bilinen dünyada kalmış ve Gezgin (Traveler) olarak aralarında dolaşmaktadır.
Uraba'nın hükümdarı Soldah-Shah ünvanını alırken Tierra hükümdarı Kral ünvanını kullanır. Uraba'nın alt kısımları aşılmaz olarak kabul edilen çöller ile kaplıdır. Tierra'nın ise üst kısımları aşılmaz olarak düşünülen karlı dağlar ile kaplıdır. İshalem'de birleşen kıtayı ikiye ayırabiliriz aslında. Her kıtada şehirler ve her şehirlerin belirli değerli kabul edilen malları veya el işleri vardır. İki kıtada da insanlar denizlerle çok ilgilidir. İnançları gereği zaten Urec ve Aiden dünyayı keşfe çıkmışken halkın denizlere açılmaması çok olası değil.
Terravitae iki halk içinde kutsal ve oraya geri dönmek, orayı bulmak yüce bir amaç. Bunu yanında Terravitae'ye ulaşan kişilerin orada üçüncü kardeş ve iki halkı içinde kutsal olan Joron'u bulma amaçlar var. Her halk, Joron'un diğer halkın davranışlarını cezalandıracağını ve kendi tarafında olduğunu varsayar. Terravitae ise bilinen suların çok ötesindedir ve ona ulaşmak için çok güçlü varlıkların ve deniz canavarlarının aşılması gerekmektedir. En güçlü gemiler ve en cesur denizciler için bile bu kısımlar bir hayaldir.
İki kıta sürekli bir sürtüşme hatta savaş durumunda olsa bile, aralarında deniz yolu ile sürekli bir aktif ticaret yapılabilmektedir. Bu tüccarlar diğer kıtalardan getirdikleri nadir ürünleri satarak yüksek kazanç sağlama niyetinde olsalarda, zaman zaman bu isteklerini hayatları veya tüm malları ile ödeyebilmektedirler. Bu tüccarlar her iki dili konuşabilen ender insanlardandır. Çünkü dinler birbirine o kadar öfkelidirki, diğer dili ağzına almayı bile günah ve iğrenç kabul ederler.
İki kıtada da halkla içiçe yaşayan ama iki dine de mensup olmayan "Saedran" halkından bahsedelim.
Saedran'lar kendi içine kapanık bir topluluk. Önemli düşünürler, sanatçılar, haritacılar, çevirmenler, doktorlar, bilim adamları hepsi Saedran'lardan oluşuyor. Hangi kıtada yaşarlarsa yaşasınlar tüm Saedran'lar birbirlerine yardımcı oluyorlar. Bunun yanında pek belli etmemelerine rağmen ciddi mal varlıkları da var. İnanışa göre Saedran'lar Terravitae'den bilerek ayrılıyorlar. Topluca yaşadıkları ada bir felaket sonucunda sular altında kalıyor ve Saedran'lar dünyaya dağılıyorlar.
Mappa Mundi (Dünya Haritası) Saedran kültüründe çok önemli, bu haritayı tamamladıklarında Ondun'un dünyaya geri döneceğine inanıyorlar.
Yukarıdaki işleri yapanlardan en ilgi çekeni aslında haritacılar. Bu kişiler Saedran'ların en yetenekli ve hafızası en güçlü olanlarının yıllar süren eğitimleri ve sınavları sonucunda seçiliyor. Mükemmel bir grafik hafızaya sahip oluyorlar. Etraftaki yerleşimlerden, hayvanlardan, yıldızların yerlerine kadar her detayı hatırlayarak denizde gemileri yönlendiriyorlar. Uzak denizlere açılan her gemide mutlaka bir haritacı oluyor. Haritacı diyoruz ama yanlış anlaşılmasın, harita kullanmıyorlar, gereken tüm bilgiyi hafızalarında saklıyorlar. Saedran'ların yarattıkları tek haritalar, önemli yerleşim birimlerindeki Mappa Mundi'ler. Gizli mahsenlerin tüm duvarlarını ve tavanını bu haritaya ayırıyorlar. Her yeni bilgiye ulaşan Saedran haritacısı buraya gelerek, ressamlara bilgilerini aktarıyor ve haritaya katkıda bulunuyor.
İşte böyle bir evrende geçen üç kitaplık bir hikayemiz var. Her zaman olduğu gibi bolca karakter ve sonunda tümünü bağlayan, açık nokta bırakmayan bir kevin abi fantazi romanı. Daha detay yazarsam okumayı planlayanların pek hoşuna gitmeyecektir.
